Evaluation-perception of site attributes and plant species selection in the public urban green space of a compact city, Ecology and Society (2023)

根據受訪者對植物物種特徵的評價，可將受訪者分為三個類別:保育支持者(Conservation supporters: 23%)、全面完美主義者(All-round perfectionists: 43%)和安全追求者(Safety defenders: 34%)。在植物物種特徵方面，全面完美主義者佔超過4成，大部份市民認為所有正面的植物特徵都重要。然而，筆者發現，市民一方面希望綠化植物能為城市野生動物提供食源，另一方面，卻把 「原生植物」 的植物特徵列為最次要考慮因素。這個矛盾的念頭反映市民的認知有誤，忽略了原生植物對綠化應用上的重要性。故此，我們應積極向市民推廣原生植物的好處，灌輸正確的綠化知識，以達至城市生態和諧。
